About Ralph

Ralph Curnow is a self taught Cornish artist based in Penzance. Most of his work reflects local coastal areas in Cornwall and the sea. His interest in the sea stems from his volunteer work as a crew member on the Penlee Lifeboat where he served for over 12 years. Much of his work therefore reflects the RNLI as well as sea rescue and shipwreck. His work has made its way all around the world with collectors as far as Australia, USA, Canada the Caribbean and Europe. He has had two solo exhibitions where his work was well received and he has had one of his painting used for the opening backdrop to a new Maritime museum in Holland. The Royal Dutch Mint also used one of his works on a limited edition Gold coin celebrating the recovery of artefacts from a Dutch VOC shipwreck “The Rooswijk” that was wrecked on the Goodwin sands off the coast of Kent.
